PART 1

“Please make them leave. Yes, they don’t belong here.”

Blair Featherman, a 49-year-old woman, was filmed on July 2nd, 2023, physically confronting and making racist remarks toward a Latino family at a community pool in Lakewood, Colorado. During the confrontation, she told the family that they didn’t belong there, along with making several other offensive comments.

Despite the footage capturing what happened, Mrs. Featherman still decided to call the police herself.

Six officers eventually arrived at the scene, where they were met by a large group of people who were prepared to support the family and explain what they had witnessed.

According to the family, the situation began after both of the sons who lived in the community reserved the clubhouse for a family barbecue.

When one family member arrived carrying food, the blonde woman approached the gate and began questioning her.

“So both my boys ran in and here they reserved the clubhouse to have a family barbecue. When I arrived with food, the blonde girl gave me crap about she came up to the gate and she said, “Do you have a father? ” I said, “No, but my boys live here. ” She said, “Well, I work at the front desk. ” Which she doesn’t.”

As more relatives began arriving, the situation became increasingly tense.

“Then, as more of our family started gathering, she was getting more pissed and more pissed.”

The confrontation then shifted toward the younger members of the family.

“She started uh mouthing off to my granddaughter saying, “You what? Hey, where’s Lexi? What did she tell Lexi? You don’t live here? What are you doing here?

You don’t live here? ” Uh, just getting very very nasty. My son who lives here tried to go over and you know, like calm the situation like, hey, we’re having a family barbecue. We live here. We’ve got a fob. ” And her brother went down on him, attacked him.

And fell on the rock. I’m sorry. Can you”

At that point, the situation had already escalated into a physical confrontation.

The family then showed the responding officers the video they had captured.

Although the footage was initially viewed by the officers at the pool, the humiliating confrontation would soon be watched by millions of people online.

“Yeah, it’s true.”

“You have a f two people. You don’t have a Mexican party in the pool. Trash. Oh, yeah. You want You can’t do that.

You can’t just record me. I’m so sorry. Oh, you guys are back down to to get the out of here. I live here. I live here.

Nowhere where you ever came from. You classy.”

The family continued explaining what had happened.

“The blonde girl. The blonde girl that this lady No.

Over there. Over there. Do you see her with the with the her with her thong on? Okay. That’s her.

And then she started try calling us Mexican trash. Just total being extremely derogatory.”

One of the officers then asked the family what outcome they wanted.

“Okay. So, what do you want the police to do here?”

“We don’t want we don’t want you guys to do anything.”

“They call you want to press charges or anything.”

“I have a suspicion that there was probably some cat fighting and there was alcohol going on mutual blah blah blah blah.”

“Exactly. They’re the ones called the peace.”

“Okay.”

The family remained remarkably calm as they explained that their main concern was what they believed had been racial profiling.

“Still going. We just got upset cuz we thought they’re racial profiling. She said, “Oh, go pissed us off. ” So if we could just like We just want to diffuse it. They called it. We just wanted to do that.”

While the family remained cooperative and respectful with the officers, Blair was preparing to give an entirely different account of what had happened.

And she was about to make it very clear how strongly she believed she was the victim.

“Can we try?”

“Sure.”

“What’s going on?”

“So, basically, this pool lately has had a lot of pool hot.”

“Okay. Okay.”

“So, and I like to enjoy my pool.

I have two girls that don’t even come to the pool anymore because of all the pool hobbies.

Okay.

They don’t even enjoy it because we know who is here in the town.

So, apparently I think they had a birthday party or something. But I asked So, here’s all I did.

Here’s all I did. I was right here.

Um, and see the Louis Vuitton guy. He’s the one who started it all. That [ __ ].

I said to him, I said I said, “Um, do you have a FOB? ” Cuz that’s what everyone’s saying. It’s not just me. Other people are living there asking people.

Is he with the big group over there? Right.

But I said, “You’re only allowed to have two people. ”

Meanwhile, the whole pool is filled with a [ __ ] party. These people don’t they don’t have a fob. You’re only allowed to have two guests, not 20.

So, we’re over here, mind you. This whole crew over here comes over, bomb rushes me.

I had two girls [ __ ] trying to kill me. So, I tried to defend myself, but my phone is gone. And I recorded everything. And they probably have my phone.”

“Who has your phone?”

“We don’t know. Someone took my phone cuz I recorded the whole thing.”

“What kind of phone was it?”

“Uh, it was a iPhone. A smaller one, not the big one.

Seven or um, 10? Shoot. I don’t know. I don’t even know. I don’t know.

But I’m just saying I put it on record and I was recording the whole thing and they took my phone.”

Blair claimed she had been attacked by two women and that her phone had been taken during the confrontation.

But as additional officers arrived and began speaking with witnesses, the accounts they received were remarkably consistent.

And they did not match Blair’s story.

“She started all of that. And so she started making racist remarks to this entire group over here. I’m not even a part of them. Like she started making racist remarks.

So one of two of them went over there and they’re like, like what’s the deal? She swung on the girl who had like the pink bikini over there. She swung on her.

So then she started fighting her.

Yes. But the entire time I was even telling her like I’m like here swimming with my kids. I was like, “Hey, can you guys just chill out? ” She’s like, “Wait, [ __ ] parenting. Take your kids out the pool. ” I’m like, “Well, maybe you guys should stop fighting. ”

I think it started I hate to say this. I think she’s racist saying I don’t belong here. I don’t live here.

But I just want to let it be known. Like I want to press because she did put her hand on and she just keeps going on saying that we’re dirty Mexicans, that we don’t belong here. We need to go back to where we came from.

We’re trash.”

By this point, the officers had heard multiple accounts from people who had no obvious reason to coordinate their stories.

They were hearing the same basic sequence of events again and again.

Blair had confronted the family.

She had questioned whether they belonged at the pool.

She had made derogatory comments.

The confrontation escalated.

And then the police were called.

Every story has two sides.

But in this case, it seemed more like a dozen people were describing the same side while one person was desperately trying to create another.

Still, the officers had a responsibility to document every version of events.

One particularly patient officer continued speaking with Blair and her companions.

“Cuz I’ve got a female with pretty good injuries that is blaming you as well. It’s It’s kind of this thing.”

“Well, maybe she attacked me. Maybe she did. Maybe you did. I don’t know.”

“Okay, so I’m going to tell you right now. So when you move from one area to come to the other area, that’s an aggressive act.”

“I get that. Is it not?”

“I mean, depending on the circumstanc, that’s an aggressive act.”

Blair continued attempting to frame the confrontation as an ambush.

But the officers had already been told that security footage existed.

And that footage could settle the question of what actually happened.

An officer eventually stepped in with a firmer explanation.

“Okay, so here’s the bottom line. I’m going to speak now and we you guys can follow up with me tomorrow after I reviewed the camera. I have an independent witness that is one-on-one basis with the district manager here.

I said you were saying racist stuff, instigating everything, blowing it up, and then when they confronted you, you couldn’t handle it.

Well, we’re going to review the cameras tomorrow when they come in. I’m going to talk to Wyatt, okay? And I and I’ll see what happened. Okay, we’ve got them identified.

I will I will look at the cameras”

The officer’s message was simple.

Nobody was going to decide what happened based solely on whoever shouted the loudest.

They were going to review the evidence.

But Blair continued arguing.

“He lives here. He had the guy’s number on the fly and he was an independent witness.”

“Okay.”

“So, who do you know who I talked to?”

“No, you don’t know who. It’s none of them. It’s an independent person that was sitting by themselves that said you were saying horrible racist things and they got upset about it.”

“Well, but but this this guy’s not affiliated with them.”

“That’s why I’m like, okay, is he telling me the truth since he’s not you or them?”

“Oh, so when I get ambushed by all them coming over here, I”

“That’s what we’re going to review the camera. Like four times. There’s two discriminating things. I get it.

And that’s why I want the camera before we do before we make any action.”

“Okay.”

“They don’t belong.”

“I they do if they reserve the clubhouse, which is what they did, unless unless Let me tell you something. According to the the guy who was on the phone with that I believe to be the district manager, if they paid the $200 to rent that out, they’ve got the clubhouse for that day.”

“Not the pool.”

“Yeah, the pool.”

“No, they usually Why don’t you argue with their civil agreements?”

“Listen, cuz you’ve been calling me all kinds of horrible things. I’ve been calling these [ __ ] cops.”

“I’m listening to you.”

“Okay. I didn’t see these [ __ ] calls.”

“Yeah, you did to your buddy on the phone. It’s on my body.”

“You have your own securityities. I can’t deal with that.”

“Okay, so here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to review the footage tomorrow.”

“It’s like I’m in trouble because I paid”

“You’re not in trouble.”

“Do you see anyone writing you a ticket?”

“We’re putting usually they will tell us.”

“Well, they didn’t.”

“I’m sorry. I don’t know what to do about that.”

“Okay.”

“If that’s their policy, if that’s their”
