PART 1
“I’ll be at our daughter Chloe’s wedding. How would I look in front of my NEW family if I skipped an event like that, right?”
The moment I read that message from my ex-wife, Elena, I felt as though the ground had disappeared beneath me.
Fifteen years earlier, I had stood helplessly in our hallway with our nine-month-old daughter in my arms while Elena filled her suitcases.
I could still hear her words.
“You CAN’T give me the life I want. But Julian can. He bought me a brand-new car and even took me to the Maldives. Do you understand the kind of life he gives me? The kind of life I deserve!”
Julian was her wealthy boss, the man she’d secretly been involved with for months.
Then Elena walked out and slammed the door behind her.
Fifteen years passed without a word.
She abandoned our family, leaving me to raise six little girls alone.
I worked double shifts to keep food on the table. I learned more shades of pink than I ever imagined existed. I attended every school performance, every important event, and every milestone.
Whatever my daughters needed, I tried to be there.
Now Chloe, my eldest, was preparing to get married.
When I told her that Elena intended to attend the wedding, Chloe simply smiled.
“Dad, tell her she’s welcome to come. I’ll take care of everything.”
The thought of facing Elena again made my stomach tighten.
But this was Chloe’s wedding, and I wasn’t going to make that decision for her.

On the wedding day, I looked at my six daughters and felt a pride I couldn’t possibly put into words.
Then Elena appeared.
Her glittering designer dress caught the light, and an expensive handbag hung from her arm.
She embraced Chloe as though they had never spent a day apart.
“Sweetheart, we’re finally together again. You have to understand… back then, everything was your FATHER’S FAULT.”
Chloe maintained her smile.
“Mom, I’m so happy to see you. Come stand in the middle of the room. I have something I’d like to give you.”
A large box was carried into the room and placed before Elena.
She eagerly removed the lid.
The expressions of all 150 guests changed instantly.
Elena stared at the contents.
The color drained from her face.
Then she screamed.
“Oh my God… How is this possible? HOW DARE YOU?!”
